Yesterday, three British girls had been caught trying to enter the rooms at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel of the West Indies cricketers
who have come to play for the ICC World T 20-20 cricket tournament..
It was reported that when they have been caught at Chris Gayle’s room, they have been having a drink and a chat. They were arrested as outsiders were forbidden to enter the rooms of the foreign players. They have been taken to Kollupitiya Police Station and in their inquiries; they have stated a totally different story:
“We live in England. Our parents are businessmen. We aren’t prostitutes; we are students who are doing our higher studies. We came to see the match. Wherever a match is held, we go to see it. We came a day before the match and we stayed at Taj Samudra Hotel.
When we came to Cinnamon Grand, we met the West Indies cricketers and we became friendly with them. We went to their rooms as they invited us to have a chat. What you all are doing to us is very wrong…”
AFP news reports that the cricketers are allowed to meet their friends and there aren’t any rules forbidding them. But the Sri Lankan police had arrested them following the rule “Illegal entry”.
